Ideas rooted
in community.
TEDxOvertown brings together local voices and global thinkers to spark meaningful conversations, celebrate Overtown, and inspire action far beyond the stage.
A platform for ideas that move people forward.
TEDxOvertown is an independently organized TED event created to amplify ideas, stories, and people with the power to shape a stronger future. We bring speakers, neighbors, leaders, artists, and changemakers together for an experience grounded in curiosity and connection.
Our work is inspired by Overtown, a community whose history, creativity, and resilience continue to influence Miami and the world. Every gathering is designed to make important ideas accessible, build new relationships, and turn conversation into possibility.
Overtown has always shaped what comes next.
One of Miami’s oldest neighborhoods, Overtown has long been a center of Black culture, entrepreneurship, music, faith, and civic life. Its story also includes the lasting effects of segregation, redlining, and highways that divided the community.
TEDxOvertown honors the people who preserved its spirit and those intentionally creating its next chapter. We believe the future is strongest when it is informed by history and built with the community, not around it.

Local ideas. Global spirit.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created TEDx: a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. TEDxOvertown is independently organized under license from TED.
